Chuck comes to True North counseling with a background of thirty-one years as a school social worker in the Farmington public schools. He hasworked in a variety of settings including Elementary and Middle schools as well as a program for adjudicated youth.

Training

Various training experiences have included Basic Drug and Alcohol, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, School Phobias, Numerous workshops on Pharmacological treatment of children with noted child and adolescent Psychiatrists, Self-injury behaviors, Anxiety and Depression in children and teens, Stress management and Social skill.

Works With

Chuck spent most of his years in the middle school and for a majority of my years worked with any students (and their parents) who demonstrated emotional or behavioral concerns through individual as well as group therapy.

Assessments - Therapy

Specific group therapies included: Children of divorce, concerned persons (those affected by drug and alcohol use of others), Grief support, Guided Group Interaction (a problem solving group). I also ran parent training groups S.T.E.P.Systematic Training For Effective Parenting and Dreikurs' "Children the Challenge"

Special Education assessments included a primary role the assessment of an Emotional Impairment (and differentiating between an Emotional Impairment and a Social Maladjustment) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder A.D.H.D. Other assessments included involvement in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities L.D. Cognitive Impairments C.I., Physical and other health impairments.  

Chuck notes, "My style might be described as a more direct and reality based cognitive therapy approach. Although I have worked in the schools, predominately with students for the past thirty years, I am interested in expanding my counseling to other age groups."
